In 1927, Norma Talmadge and Douglas Fairbanks stepped in a wet concrete slab outside the theater. It was the first of many ceremonies carefully planned out by Sid Grauman (the owner) and Jean Klossner (the builder). The rest (as they say) is history. The full 'Forecourt of the Stars' at Mann's (formerly Grauman's) Chinese Theater holds the hand and foot imprints of the following silent (or those who got their start in silents) stars:
